When waking up from the blepharoplasty surgery, your vision will be blurry about. However, this is not a bad sign but the result of a thick antibiotic ointment applied to keep the area moist. This ointment should be used for one week, four times a day, on the inside of the eye and wounds. In addition, artificial tear drops will be prescribed to prevent the eye from becoming too dry. For 24-48 hours after surgery, ice packs should be used to reduce swelling and pain, and patients should sleep and rest in the up-right position to prevent fluid from accumulating. Any strenuous activities should be avoided for at least seven days, though light mobility is recommended immediately. In the first few weeks, it may be helpful to wear dark sunglasses outside to protect your eyes from wind or sun irritation. You may be inclined to take more naps to rest your eyes during recovery.

Though it varies from patient to patient, moderate swelling and bruising are normal and will heal within a few weeks. Regularly wearing bandages is not common or necessary, as the patient needs to be able to see. Plenty of rest and relaxation, along with the proper care and cleaning techniques, will ensure proper healing after a blepharoplasty procedure.
